& Juliet (again)

What a show! Seeing & Juliet from the front row, center orchestra, was absolutely incredible. It actually wasn't my first time snagging that coveted spot - I honestly think it's one of the best seats in the house. There's just something so thrilling about being inches away from the action, even if the scene with the virginal has some very obstructed views of the performers (totally worth it though!). You're right there in the thick of it, catching every tiny nuance in the performances and feeling the cast's energy wash over you. Plus, the performers interact with the audience before and after the show, and being front row definitely increases your chances of a little one-on-one banter!

This particular performance was extra special because I knew a good portion of the original cast was leaving after the next day's show. Sadly, I couldn't make it to their final bow, so on a total whim, I decided to try my luck with a digital rush ticket about 90 minutes after they opened. And guess what? I somehow scored a front-row seat! It felt like fate. The cast poured their hearts and souls into the performance, and being that close made the whole experience even more personal and moving.
It's hard to put my finger on what makes & Juliet so unique, especially for a jukebox musical (not usually my cup of tea, to be honest). But this show just has it. The story is fresh, clever, and puts a hilarious and heartfelt modern spin on "Romeo and Juliet." The characters are all so unforgettable, and the music... it's like those pop anthems were written specifically for this show.

Last night was a whirlwind of laughter, excitement, and not surprisingly, a few tears; Fuckin' Perfect gets me every single time, and it's only slightly over a minute long! It reminded me why I keep coming back to & Juliet. It absolutely lives up to all the hype, and this particular performance? Well, it's one I'll cherish forever.

My only complaint, which I've had since the beginning and has nothing to do with the performance, the performers or the creative team whatsoever, is that this show does not have a standard rectangular magnet for purchase, and my AuDHD brain cannot fathom adding the custom-cut, clear acrylic monstrosity that they sell for this show.
